Rabbit proofing borders - stylish but effective?

My aliums and dahlias in the borders were destroyed by rabbits and hares over the summer. I'm about to start planting tulips and wallflower seedlings and don't wish to flush more money down the drain. 

Can anyone recommend some rabbit proofing solutions for borders. Its the main focal point of the garden so I want something that is, for want of a better word, stylish. I considered willow hurdles (say 40 cm high) but these would be extortionately expensive. I could go with chicken wire which is much more cost effective- but this isn't exactly an attractive alternative.

Anyone, solved this problem?

    They'll just jump over them, I'm afraid.  :/
    They love tulips, so you might be better putting them in pots and raise them up. You need to make sure there's nothing around they can't use to get onto the pots though.

    They can be very difficult to keep out, unless you can put a really sturdy boundary round your garden, which is also down into the ground by a good bit.

    not only will they jump over willow hurdles, they'll dig under them too. You need to bury rabbit fencing about 18" below ground too.
