Tulips for Windy Conditions

Hi

Can anyone recommend any varieties of tulip that would be best suited a windy / coastal garden setting.

    Any of the species tulips eg Kaufmanniana mentioned above.

    My garden gets a good deal of wind and I've found the Triumph tulips to be fairly robust, but again don't go for very tall ones. The lily flowered ones are lovely but useless in this kind of situation.
    It also helps if you can plant them among perennials that are early into leaf, to provide some protection. Wallflowers are the classic accompaniment, bare root plants readily available for planting now, but Hellebores, Pulmonaria and Aquilegia among others, also help and add to/prolong the display.

    I'd agree totally @Buttercupdays. Natural support for them really helps. 
    A bit of evergreen groundcover, and even things like crocus will all help to give some support. Some of the smaller grasses, and euphorbias, are also good. Many of those like a drier aspect which suits tulips too. I've got dianthus among some of  mine too.
    The really small species tulips are pretty good at withstanding wind though. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Does burying the bulb a bit deeper help?
