Your garden looks just like the one Charlie did on Garden Rescue on the BBC last week, train track and all, see if you can find it on catch up for ideas.
Thanks @Fairygirl@purplerallim. I was just getting worried that this is the only time I’ll be able to plant and then would have to wait another year. I’ll put my efforts now to helping the soil.
I’m sure about the Jasmin on the chain link I think. Do you think the euc and wisteria are too much? The wisteria won’t go on the chain fence - it will need a wood structure. I’m worried that because I don’t know many plants I’m trying to shoehorn the ones I do like in my garden. I just like thinking about stuff I would like to grow because I like the planning and having a vision of what you want it to be like.
That seems to be a smaller type of Eucalyptus than the normal gunni that most folk grow, so hopefully it should be ok. It would be worth going and marking out roughly [with sand or washing line or similar] the area it will cover. That will give you a more realistic idea of the space you have for other planting. It will affect it because it will cause shade, and will also be drier underneath as it's an evergreen. You need to factor that in for any future plans
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
