If you could grow ANY plants in your garden, which two would you plant?

  • @Dovefromabove just searched for winged spindle and it is gorgeous.
After reading the recent thread about rhus I realised it would be too much trouble to have in the garden.
I wish winged spindle was less sprawling (garden is small) or I would have chosen it instead of sorbus olympic flame.

Well if we are talking fantasy, it would have to be French lavender and a lemon tree, both for looks and scent plus vital G&T ingredient of the latter. I may live in a Mediterranean country but in my northerly, mountain location I don’t have a Mediterranean climate.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

On the last thread I chose roses and clematis but in a fantasy world it would be bougainvillea and jasmine. I've sort of decided not to fly again and those are the two plants I will miss most from my trips to Turkey.  I do grow jasmine but it doesn't have the same strong scent (probably due to the climate).

Only two? It's so hard to choose. I guess one would have to be a flamboyant tree (delonix regia) and possibly a coconut palm, or a banana that actually produces fruit, or a mango.

I'd opt for two of the worlds most beautiful conifers .....Dacrydium franklinii and Pinus montezumae .
Alas , both too tender for the avarage UK climate :'(

Nothing like a tender pinus to bring a tear to your eye :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It's ok @wild edges, you can get ointment for it.
If I could only have two, it would be difficult. Would need to be some evergreens so that I could have topiary, or a structure of some kind.  Yew or holly perhaps.
Then bulbs - does that count as one plant?  ;)

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes! Not really hot enough here to ripen those varieties although I do have a few bunches on my Merlot vine this year.
