What grass is this?!

Could someone help me identify what type of grass this is please? It was about a metre high and in clumps.

    Hi @Tom68 - not sure but could be a Deschampsia of some kind, or Calamagrostis. Is the foliage 'flat' or is it more like a reed, with a solid feel to it? I can't make my mind up from the photos.

    I'm sure someone will offer more ideas - and hopefully the correct ID  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Achnatherum calamagrostis [aka Stipa].... very easy from seed...

    I wondered about it being a Stipa @Marlorena, but it looked very hefty, which made me think otherwise.
    I suppose i was thinking of the usual one though - tenuissima.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Is this the grass that Monty grew from seed, and last week commented that the grass was unruly, had dominated his (Jewel or Peace) garden?  He cut the lovely tops off, which I thought was the reason for growing this grass in the first place - like a lot of plants these grasses need space to flourish and show their special features.

    It does not look like any Stipa that I know / grow, but I could be wrong.

    No, @Guernsey Donkey2, it is not Monty's stipa tenuissima.   Nor do I think it's the giant oat form, stipa gigantea.

    It doesn't seem very popular any more - perhaps it's a troublesome self seeder?

    I don't find it troublesome  but it does self seed... sometimes in places where you don't really want it... I haven't got round to moving this one...

    Thanks all! Looks like the stipa calamagrostis is the one I’m after. I’ll get myself some seeds.
