Campsis

I saw a beautiful plant today. I think it was a campsis. It had large orange flowers , had climbed over a high wall and was swallowing a bus shelter.
RHS site says it grows 30'x30'😯
Would it be controllable or a rampant thug?

IMHO " rampant thug " just about covers it.
If , and it's a big IF you have room to let it get that big, then it's a great thing, but don't even think you can keep it to a decent size.

A previous owner planted one next to a well in the centre of the drive.  If we don't trim it so it can flower well it heads off down towards the gates, triffid fashion and it suckers too.  If we trim it to keep it in shape we get very few flowers and it still suckers.

I foresee it being dug out and binned or rehomed depending on what state it is when we tackle it.

I'd stick to admiring it on the bus shelter.
