Pond watee

After many years of having a green pond, I had a large filtration system added of sponges and balls etc to my already existing Filter system and U V light. My pond is now clear but still dark particularly if the sun isn’t shining. If the sun is shining you can see the bottom. Any ideas how I can make it less dark please?  The lining is fairly black from all the algae over all the years. Are there any fish that would help ?

    I have a glass fibre wildlife pond which turned from green to green/brown with algae over a couple of years.
    Last year I introduced pond snails and they have made a significant difference and I can now see a lot of the original green of the pond.

    I guess if you have large fish or koi snails would just be food.
    Sturgeon do a good job, but need very specialised conditions for them to survive in a pond

    Thanks Pete. Yes I tried snails to get rid of my original green pond. They didn’t survive as I have very large Koi that obviously ate them! I may try sturgeon or maybe Plecostomus?

    I've kept plecs for many years in tropical tanks, I didn't know they could survive cooler temps. They would take food from my fingers and go crazy to see me when approaching the tank.
    Sturgeon require fast moving, well oxygenated water that is of very good quality or they wont live long, but I've never kept them.
