Bramble seedlings

In the five years I've had this garden, I never saw a bramble until last year when one appeared, creeping under the fence from next door.  This year, I've found about a dozen, all over the garden and nowhere near last year's.

Is it just me, or are other people finding the same thing?  I presume they are growing from seeds dropped by birds, from one end or other of their digestive system.  Though I can't see how or why a bird would wedge either its beak or its bum into that tiny crevice between the paving and the house wall.

    I imagine some gets dropped from a height and spatters :#

    Blackberry seeds have evolved to be eaten by a range of animals, pass through the gut intact and are then deposited on the ground inside a nice (?!) lump of fresh, 100% organic,  manure.  Many if not most fruit have evolved this way which has obvious advantages over seeds which just fall or blow onto a random piece of ground. ;)
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
