I agree - Fred's Shed is a very useful site, and he's very helpful if you have questions.
I bought the bosch turbine shredder he recommends a few years ago - it works extremely well and is very quick and quiet

The bosch with the large screw cutter is very quiet but it chunks things. If you want compost then the smaller the pieces the better. I used to have an Alko 1100. When that became unrepairable, I got an Alko 1300 for £30 off gumtree.  Both are electric plug in.  The Alko ones are impact shredders and you get fine bits for compost.  The only petrol ones I have seen are the large ones that tree surgeons have. Very expensive, very big and very noisy.
