The only time I've been to your neck of the woods @Nollie, there was snow. It was unheard of - the pylons were all collapsing and the entire place ground to a halt! Must have been about 9 years ago.  :)
I think many people forget how easily the sun fades strong colours. Even here, dark clematis will look pink if they're in a sunny spot for any length of time, so I can imagine how hard it is for you. I have Niobe on a timber screen - one side faces east [ish] the other is west [ish] and it's quite noticeable how much darker the flowers on the east side always are. Even when it first blooms in May.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

We do get snow and giant hailstones here, @Fairygirl. We woke to this one February morning last year:

Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

    Lovely@Nollie.  :)
We had very little snow last winter- only about five or six falls, and they didn't last very long. Quite unusual for where I am.

We had a job getting home from Girona. Airport shut down almost instantly  :D
I was with an ex partner who had business connections there. All his colleagues were having nervous breakdowns because of it! One of the women in the office said she'd never seen snow like that. It was about three inches. We had to laugh  :)

It's a beautiful place for a visit. I couldn't cope with the levels of heat you get though.
