Moving an acer

I have a acer planted  in the ground. I’m am needing to change the lay out of my garden and wondering if I can move this just now. It’s 8yrs old and only about 3ft 6ins. Is it too risky to move at this time of year?

Best to wait until November if possible. If not possible, and there's no other option, give it a whirl - if you can take as much of the soil around the roots as possible and water it in extremely well, it may survive. (Possibly).
