Swede

Hi, can anyone offer some advice as to why some of my swede have grown cylindrical and not round. I use "Helenor" seeds that I start in the greenhouse and transplant to my allotment.

Thanks.

Could be a muddle in the seed packet.  Did they both grow ok, that’s the main thing. You could take a photo and email the company, they may reimburse you, could be with a few free packets of veg seeds.🙂
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Could also be weather related.  Swedes are a cool climate crop (name is short for "Swedish turnip") and it may have been too hot and dry for ideal growth this year.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
