Help out an Aussie

Hi all,

Need some ideas for our front area. We have a space of about 7m wide and I only want it to be 1m deep. I've included some photos to help. The area doesn't get all day sun.

What's the soil like?  Which way does it face?  Wherabouts are you as that effects maximum and minium temperatures and rainfall?

Do you have colour preferences?  Do yu want low maintenance/structure/year round interest/etc?

Hello Alison, welcome to the forum  :)
It's a bit tricky for us, being in the Northern hemisphere,  but we do have at least one Aussie member that l know of. Whereabouts in Oz are you, as l know that it has such different climates in different states?
We may be able to point you in the right direction!
  • In in Adelaide. Which is in the middle and down the bottom. Trying to find a forum page for Aussies but no luck.
  • @Pat E is our long-standing and very knowledgeable Aussie member. Hopefully she’ll pop in during the day 😊

Edited to add, l have tagged @Pat E, l hope she doesn't mind. I think she is fair distance from you, but she may be able to help.

I'd have thought Gradening Australia TV programme and magazine would be the place to start.  Maybe find back issues in a library t see if they have articles that could help and the programme issues factsheets you can download and print off.

Hi Alison, haven’t been on today. Son visiting. We are in the snowy mountains area near Cooma. I’m happy to help if you need advice. 😁

Bottle brush would be lovely by your porch.  Here’s  a pic of my daughters.
