Hostas infested with violets

    Violets are welcome in our garden, we've got a big patch of them down at the bottom.
  • For my potted hostas I use JI no 3 mixed with some MPC/homemade compost/soil conditioner ... whichever I have to hand... at a rough ratio of 4 parts JI3 to 1 part of whatever the other is. 
    Mine seem quite happy on that ... I repot alternate springs and top up in between. 


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I can't keep them from being shredded at all. Even the simple green one I inherited here, which is always healthy, has been annihilated this year.
    I'm finally admitting defeat. Slugs 1 Fairy 0  :D
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
