I think some tradespeople think that small jobs are not worth their while, but it is quite often small jobs that lead to larger jobs. If they can be bothered to do a small job well they will get my business for the larger ones plus recommendations! My local double glazing firm and my plumber I have recommended many times!

I now have people hired and ready to do the 4 jobs I wanted! At the beginning of November I found a website called MyBuilder where you basically put up the details (and photos) of the job you want done, tradespeople then reply online and you can pick the ones you want to get in touch with. On 2 of the jobs I had replies within 10 minutes of posting the ad and they came the following day to view the work needed!

Upthread Josusa recommended the nextdoor website. I echo that endorsement; it is very good and perfect for these circumstances. Our village also has a Facebook group which is another great way of seeking advice and giving recommendations.

What quality of tradespeople are so quiet that they need to pay for leads on Mybuilder?

Actually all very good local tradespeople. MyBuilder is just a place to get hold of them. I tried websites, phonecalls, yellow pages to find people but this set up is very good with reviews from customers who have used them. The beauty is they contact you through the MyBuider website and you can check up on any of them before you make direct contact.
