To be honest @andrew.twigg - once they establish, the small ones will quickly catch up and usually become better specimens. If you don't have high rainfall, like Lyn and I have, the most important thing is not to let them dry out. Planting in autumn helps that though. A good mulch after planting will also be beneficial. I've used Hopes Grove Nursery for hedges in the past, and always found them good.
