You said it @Fairygirl! I saw him watching me from a nearby tree when I was planting them in the border so I dug them all up, waited until he had disappeared and put them in a pot amongst the raised beds - much good that did  :(  I love wildlife but sometimes grrrrrrrrrrr

I remember looking out the bathroom window once and seeing a squirrel vandalising my flowers. I threw a bar of soap at him - as you do. He picked it up, inspected it, smirked and chucked it away. He then continued to bite my flowers off at the stem😡
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I'm not a fan of anthropomorphised animals (is that even a word?) but they do seem to smirk @B3 and it does feel like they are facing you off. The one that got the bulbs sat on the fence and smirked!

  • I did read about the chilli powder on the RSPB site. The little bxxxxrs don't touch the peanuts, they go straight for the sunflower seeds, so I'll try the feeder from the Nuttery. They caused a lot of damage to my mums house so I'm rather anti squirrel I'm afraid!

     :D
I think I posted these before, but when I first constructed my cage, the squirrel arrived..

    'right - this'll be a piece of p***'

'ok- maybe I'll try it this way'....

    'bo****cks'

He had a face like a well skelped a**e afterwards.
I have since 'fancied it up' but they've realised they can't get in - no matter how hard they try  :D

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • 🤣

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • They went in our neighbours loft biting a hole in the wood under the guttering. He didn't even know they were there till his smoke alarm went off early one morning. They had bit through his smoke alarm cable
  • If you see them wandering close to your house approaching winter keep an eye on them

This is my favourite one. It's called the Nuttery Roundhaus.

never seen that one before - some good designs https://www.gardenwildlifedirect.co.uk/brands/the-nuttery.html?p=1

I don't really feed the birds but if I were to feed them I would not discriminate and squirrels are more welcome than pidgeons so I'd probably look for a squirrel feeder lol

interesting snippet from google: By placing a squirrel feeder in your yard, that is easy to reach and filled with delicious food; the hope is that squirrels will leave your bird feeders alone, using the squirrel feeder instead and opting for the path of least resistance.
