Will my lavender re-grow from this?

Will my lavender return next year or is this it? I’ve cut it back as it was brown

  • I think it’s dead ... but if it was brown it was probably dead before you cut it back. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.





  • If the stems,(where it has been cut) were green,would it then regrow?

    I agree with @Dovefromabove , but you could leave it until spring just in case.  The soil looks a bit rich and wet for lavender.  They live longer on poor, sandy, well-drained soils (but even then they're not particularly long-lived plants).
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
