    That's the thing... it IS appropriate, and not in the least bit a troublesome plant. It's a bit like blaming knives for knife crime rather than the people.

    Leylandii is EASY to maintain, less work than privet, it's great for wildlife, it doesn't "drain" the soil any more than other hedges (as soon as it's gone the ground can be replanted (.

    We didn't buy an otherwise acceptable house because of huge leylandii hedges too.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
