I have single and double NGs too. Two of each. I'm in London so I assume no climate issues. They're about 3 years old and have been single and doubles for that time. I never labelled them but I assume single stayed single.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I always say David Howard is my favourite dahlia and most prized one. But this year David hasn't been great but another very reliable one which I like just as much has preformed great Thomas Edison great Purple flowers . And another which has been great this year first time growing it as well is Wittemans Best red catcus.  I put a picture of both on the Gallery thread if your interested.

I love both of those @Perki and my DH has been great this year.
Karma Naomi always turns up trumps for me, very reliable and a gorgeous colour.
Another favourite is completely different. It's little Scura: low growing, almost a ground cover dahlia, with small orangey flowers but lots of them. Perfect for the front of a border, where dahlias usually look out of place :). I need to replace mine as I lost them a year or two ago in a bad winter. Sarah Raven has them this year.

  • Love the sunset colour on these single dahlias. The bumble bees have been regular visitors all summer.

Grown from mixed single and loose double dahlia seeds from Wilko.

It would be like choosing my favourite child, even though I don't have any children :)
    How come mate ?
  • Bishop of Llandaff is my favourite, my least favourite are the varieties that have no value to insects
  • Same here @BirminghamMarc1972 I also prefer the single petal, open flowers of the Bishop series.

  • Dahlia Night Butterfly. I love the dark red of this flower.

Dahlia Art Deco. Beautiful petals and lovely colours.
