Just bought this
Garrya Elliptica on-line. The leaves seem paler than a previous one I had in another garden and this one is mottled in parts. The leaves to my previous Garrya were a deeper glossier green.
Does it seem healthy to you?

Me: "The leaves are pale and some are discoloured. Ive had one of these previously and the foliage was much deeper green. This one seems slightly unwell to me".
Nursery response: "The spotting tends to happen on the old leaves which is natural on all evergreens, these leaves eventually drop. This wont affect your plant in anyway".
I would like to complain ....what argument would you suggest from here?

Have a look under Problems - autumn leaf spot is explained.
Then it's up to you what to do.
I think your plant will be fine with some TLC though
Good luck
