Where the yarrow mingles with some Californian poppies I've left it. My aim is to make the yarrow a boundary between the lawn and the low-growing plants on the left. I've dug in wooden planks as a sort of barrier. It may all end in tears if the yarrow spreads everywhere. Anyway the aim is for this to become a pretty wild and mingly border changing into lawn.
I know I could go grubbing about in someones lawn for some wild yarrow but decided to buy decent plants to get started.Ordered 6 nice yarrow plants from Naturescape this morning and then went shopping in town and picked up 3 Achillea millefolium plants called 'Summer Pastels' for £1 each. Not technically the wild one I suppose but could have a bit of colour.Knowing my luck they will probably be all white anyway though I have seen wild pink ones round here.

That's a lovely front garden by the way. What's in the pot in the top centre of the picture? A bit late to mention this, but I bought seeds from meadowmania for my strip. It germinates very easily. Good luck with your lawn! Do you have other plants in mind, such as clover? I'm always looking for inspiration. One thing I'm still mulling over is whether to invite creeping cinquefoil into the lawn. It looks lovely.
Thanks for the compliment!Having a bit of a rethink with the border just now with some hard pruning going on and plant moving. The grass in the pot is Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire'. I have white clover in the lawn and I think the red clover seeds have taken and some other things like thyme and daisies. Have a little bit of creeping cinquefoil.Only a few years ago I had loads in the lawn and took me ages to get rid of it,now I have trouble trying to get it to establish!! Bulbs for the spring as well. All very much a work in progress!
