Rosa ‘Veilchenblau’ (rambler)

I’ve just pruned this a bit too rigorously as the branches were long and heavy. So I cut it right down to the base leaving only a few small branches. Have I been too over zealous?

    ..yes I'm afraid so.. you've cut off all next years flower buds... but you will still get some, and any new growth this autumn, just leave it on... so all is not lost..

    Oh what a shame but thank you. I thought I was too hasty but last year’s growth was excessive so I didn’t think it would do any harm.
