    I've just checked one of the cut stems... it was not completely dead, still a bit green / white in the middle. Should I not have cut the darned thing...?  :)

  • Proves it is not wilt. The plant will benefit long term from being pruned back.

    Ah, ok, thanks... wonder what caused it, then... I have others along that fence in same sized pots that are doing just fine...!

    It's easy for slugs/snails to gnaw through stems low down, causing them to die back. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Could be wind damage, drought, or as Fairygirl said, slug/snail damage, It will be interesting to see if the 3 stems grow again.
