In theory, a slower samba gives you time to put in all the bounce which has to go from toes to waist in a fluid movement and incorporate the hip rotation. She sort of stopped every time her foot hit the floor and there was no roll so it looked wooden and clumpy.
Karim definitely needs to find some feeling. Kelvin continues to be amazing, despite the awful trousers and I can't tell you how pleased I am with Chris who started unfit, shy and with 2 left feet. He and Kelvin have really thrown themselves in for the whole Strictly experience. I like Alex's attitude and progress too.
Emma remains vacuous and underperforms. Anton has had better partners before and not such extravagant marking.

It definately feels as though the BBC have cut their budget this year, some of the costumes have lacked that certain sparkle, and I thought the Halloween Saturday was very played down from what it used to be,almost as though they only had one makeup artist. I do hope its not men dancing with men next year,I need gorgeous dresses!!!😁😁
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
I think the BBC are resting on their laurels where Strictly is concerned. It has a feel of "going through the motions" in a lot of ways. Back in the day, there didn't seem to be this intense training, 10 to12 hour days. By the time we get to this point most of the celebrities look cream crackered and the professionals don't look much better. I thought a new producer might have changed things, listened to the viewers and stopped the incessant cheering and whooping from the audience . The judges standing and applauding (who started that, was it Shirley ?), and 10s coming out so early in the series which means that they have nowhere else to go. I realise that the show has to evolve, but it would be nice to see the basic dances taught and executed, get rid of couples choice (save it as a showdance for the final). I have no problem with same sex couples and l know the music choices will become more contemporary, as the audience demographic evolves. Just make the music fit the dance, not try to force the dance to fit the music. Also stop having tenuous links such as " Who let the dogs out" because Karim works with a puppet dog character called Hacker 🙄 I'll get me coat.
I like having the 'Couples Choice'. It adds a new dimension, even if I don't necessarily like what the couple actually do. I thought Anton was going to have a heart attack the way he reacted when they got through. Nobody can say he doesn't care. After so many years of having partners who provided little more than comedy interest it's nice to see him progress further.
Not necessarily my thing either ... it depends on a lot of things ... but some women in frocks don’t do it for me either ... But then I watch Strictly for the dancing and a bit of pizzazz ... not personal gratification 😉 ... doesn’t matter to me who’s wearing the frocks or the trousers ... Oti’s outfit this weekend was almost the same as Kelvin’s 😉

I agree with AnniD. I find the audience whooping and hollering is overdone and as bad as canned laughter on a comedy show. If it's funny, I'll laugh without help. Otherwise not. Same applies to the dancing. The good performances fill me with delight.
It would be great too to have appropriate music - the worst offenders are Paso and Tango, both ballroom and Argentine but I've yet to see anyone use authentic salsa music either. I like the couple's choice but maybe better to have everyone do it at the same time, maybe when we get to the pount where they have to do 2 dance?
No problem with men in gorgeous frocks tho the one time I watched a live ballroom competition with same sex couples both men wore trousers.
For all those who only remember Anton's comedy partners, can I just remind you he came 3rd in the first SCD and has had some very good partners since then.
