Cactus help

Hello, I’m fairly new to gardening and looking after plants so hoping someone can help with some advise.

I inherited my friends cactus and have managed to keep it in good shape for a year and a half but unfortunately one of them has gone black :( it literally happened in 3 or 4 days, I fear I’ve over watered.

should i I try to remove it or leave it? I seem to be reading conflicting information online and I’d really like to try and save the other two as the plant is sentimental to me.

Thanks in advance x

Just seen this post , and to add to Philippas' sound advice , leave any open wounds to callous for a week or two !
In case you want to research the plant , it's a Pachycereus pringlei .
My own plant is approaching 4' tall now ; fairly frost hardy in a cold g/house ;  too heavy to move and armed like a medieval club ! :)
  • Thanks Paul... I’ll defo look up more about it and hopefully will be able to help it gets as strong as yours! Wow!! X
