Really proud of my enormous Cactus Dhalia

Just wanted to show my enormous Cactus Dhalia. Grew it this year for the first time and the flowers are bigger than my hand and I have pretty large hands for a woman.lol

    That is truly glorious! They seem to've really enjoyed the hot spell, we grew one up our allotment which was about 9" across :)

    They've been lovely this year and will go on till autumn, combination of early rain and hot sun. Just a good balance.

    I remember my Grandad having some similar to that (in various different colours).  He used to call them dinnerplate dahlias.

    How lovely, dahlias always remind me of my childhood, we used to get bunches given from kind neighbors and we had to shake the earwigs out before we brought them in to the house. !

    That's lovely.  I have a similar one a bit more flame coloured and it's flwoered its socks off for weeks now and still has many more to come.  However, they are all very short stemmed.

    I am new to growing them so know almost nothing about dahlias beyond basic care so wonder if this is due to drought or just a feature of this variety.  Label long gone.
