I've never found Google etc to be of much use, in fact l don't think l've ever had a correct id 😁.
You've definitely come to the right place for advice  :)

Dahlia, red flowers, dark centres with wee yellow bits, purple foliage.  Most likely Bishop of Llandaff or an offspring.

    I see what you mean !  :)
  • There’s lots of different dahlias ... lots and lots and lots 😂

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • I thought it would be like a model of car, lots of different colours and trim levels but basically the same shape! (clearly not)

That's cos a dahlia can cross pollinate with the next dahlia and make a spectacular new dahlia or a duffer.    They can have many different flower forms - cacti, semi cacti, pompom, ball, collarette, single, peony, dinner plate, orchid, waterlily.............

Leaves can be green, bronze or purple.  They can be small, medium or large plants.

Flower colours can be white through cream, yellow ad all shades of orange pink and red to almost black.  They can be multi-coloured, bi-coloured and graduated.
