Magnolia flowering in September

My friend as asked  me to do some trimming in her garden hedges etc.then i came across her magnolia  tree flowing again never done it before. Do i trim it for next years flowers or do i leave it until it loses its flowers then a good cut or just leave it . Its healthy  but a little unruly  . Please help as im doing this tomorrow.

  • Several of mine are also producing flowers and I think it is normal for some species.  In general, magnolias should not be pruned so unless it is damaged, diseased or has grown far too large, the best thing to do is nothing! :)  If they ever do need pruning, it is best done in mid-summer, so a bit late now as it would be struggling to heal before winter, leaving it prone to diseases.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
