    Tree seedling, probably  wild cherry.  Should be easy to pull out now.

    We seem to have several of these seedlings growing on our lawn. All seems to be coming from our mature cherry tree at the bottom of our garden...

    In that case they may be suckers as cherry trees are infamous for sprouting those from their shallow roots.  If they are indeed attached to a main root from the mature cherry, try tearing them off rather than cutting off as doing that seems to make them less likely to throw up new ones from the same point.

    The appearance of the leaves ( sucker growths on   lawn) seem altogether different to those from our mature cherry tree.

    You'll soon find out whether they are seedlings or suckers when you pull or dig one up.  :)

    They will look quite a bit different to the grafted topgrowth if they are suckers from the rootstock.
