Ident please

My sister has sent me this photo as she likes the plant.  Any ideas please - it looks as though it could be from the euphorbia family?  Thanks as always

    it is a Euphorbia , looks like one of the Characias group

    Thanks - it appears the purple flowers I was focussing on seem to belong to a salvia which is what was throwing me!!!!

    Agree Euphorbia.
    Purple flowers belong to a 2nd plant...maybe Salvia.

    The purple flowers are definitely Salvia, possibly Amistad if the colour in the picture is true.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
