  Thanks, @B3 and @Obelixx.  We've bought the house but haven't moved in yet - 23rd October is D-day.    
  
  I'm banking on someone who gardens in a warmish area to know this one, so your suggestion could be a good one, thanks Obelixx.  Or maybe @nutcutlet will recognise it.  Her plant knowledge is amazing.

  It look a wee bit like a Gaultheria of some kind, but the flowers are different. 
  Yes - @Mary370 might have a good idea on it.
  
  Or should that be a good ID....

  Thanks so much, @Silver surfer.  We don't get many NZ plants in west Yorks so I hadn't come across it before.  Must find out who owns the land, and beg some cuttings at the right time of year.
