Don't make the gin wait @Hortum-cretae use it now for blackberries or raspberries ( done both for hubby as I don't drink it) Just a week to wait for the first tasting now.😋😁
They're very dark bluey/black when ripe, and softish. I believe the reason for picking after a frost is so that the skin bursts, and therefore releases the flavour if you're putting them in gin. It's not necessary though, and many people believe they're not so good by that point. The birds get most of mine - there was a lovely thrush gorging on them regularly last year
I've never heard of people drying them either, but they freeze well enough.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
