Erica Arborea turning brown

Is this normal? I bought it about two weeks ago and have yet to plant it but noticed its now started turning brown? I wonder if its the recent heavy rainfall in my area and maybe the compost is too wet?

    Does look like under or over watering.  Perhaps the roots are blocking the drainage holes?
    They can suffer from phytophthora though, so best have it out of the pot and examine to roots as mentioned in that RHS link.

    I think it may be due to the lattee because the soil is sodden! Thanks I'll take a look a the link and examine the roots!
