Pond snail pest ... what is it?

    I’ve told OH to make sure he scrubs his fingernails etc ... he asked what would happen if he didn’t? I’ve told him his eyes will pop out on stalks 👀 
    Isn’t that what men’s eyes do anyway (in some situations) or is that just mine? 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor. 

  • I’m no expert, but we also have quite a few empty snail shells and I think leeches are to blame. Goodness knows how they got there. I see them in the shallows in the evening they give me the heebie jeebies.

    When we were youngsters there was a horse pond in a meadow on the neighbouring farm ... we used to sit on the edge and dangle our feet in the water to see how many leeches we could catch 😆 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    leeches and snails are all part if the natural system of eat and be eaten. Populations have their ups and downs
    The balance works fine until humans come along and interfere
