Please help ID this plant

I found this plant growing by the side of my house.  It has broad, strong, stiff leaves with sharp thorns around the leaf edges. Is it a weed?

    I'd say it's Eringium, aka sea holly.

    Thank you Hexagon, Joshua47 and punkdoc for your quick responses. I would happy with the plant turning out to be either Eringium or Helleborus argutifolius.  I plan to leave it where it is and shall post a photo when it flowers.  Thanks again for your help.
