@celcius_kkw Next time you see what might be suckers, count the leaflets. Even if they don't match the rest of the plant you could leave them to see what happens. It is unlikely that a rose tree would grow some strikes with 5 and others with 7 but if the new bits do grow from above the graft, they will be the named cultivar. I'm going to observe mine with interest now.🙂
Roses often have 3, 5 or 7 leaves all on the same bush.. Lady of Shalott has all, mostly 5 ... ...here with 7.. ..here with 6 even... ...this is Rosa corymbifera 'Laxa'.. the rootstock commonly used today which throws up suckers... it has 3, 5 or 7 leaflets.. but the foliage is quite different and somewhat unmistakeable..
...true... I'm learning all the time.. each time I buy a new rose I learn something, if only that I'm an addict and get withdrawal symptoms if one doesn't arrive on my doorstep every so often...
