Strange Apple condition.

My James Grieve has fruited well this year with mostly healthy fruit when the wasps don't get them. They have escaped bitter pit this year too but I noticed one slightly odd shaped fruit that I took off the tree to examine. It was a good size healthy looking apple but slightly greener compared to the others and also seemed slightly 'squared off' instead of the normal plump round shape an apple should have.
When I cut it open I found some patches of a  rather strange darker green colouring of a smoother slightly translucent texture.
Does anyone recognise this condition from its description? I'm afraid I am not yet able to add a photo to this posting - I'm following the process described elsewhere on this forum but something isn't working so I'll try to post this first then try again with just the photo.
