Sunflowers

Are there any sunflower experts about as I need a hand identifying some I’m growing. And is there a section I should be posting in for this please?!

    Post anywhere and post some pics.most of us look at recent discussions rather than the separate sections

    I picked up a pack of Mongolian Sunflowers, they’re at the front and haven’t bloomed yet.

    Someone gave me a few seeds from a pack and I planted them at the back and they have bloomed but they are different. 

    The pack said they would grow from 6-8 feet but I swear it said they were all the same type. 

    I’ve never grown anything before and thought Sunflowers would be a good place to start, and I’m so happy to have succeeded! (I planted them all 3 May(so they’re all late starters))

    They all look like sunflowers to me. Some may flower later than others.

    Yes I know they’re sunflowers but does anyone know what kind?

    There are a few tall growing varieties so narrowing it down could be tricky.

    I’m thinking the second picture is an American Giant. It’s about 10 foot tall and looks like pictures I’ve seen on the net but I’m no helio expert!

    I only got my sunflower flower today. Very bad year for me with them. Guess should last between now and first frost though. Hoping the weather picks up again soon.

    It will probably be extremely difficult to id them until they have bloomed-patience is required ;)
    The same type can grow to different heights based on nutrients, watering, and even soil texture. (By soil texture I mean they may grow tall, but fall over if they do not have a stable rooting ball.)

    Two have bloomed & I’ve posted pictures.. :-/

    These are Mongolian Giant

    The top of the trellis is around 7ft so the sunflowers are 8ft plus. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
