Pruning a cherry tree
in Fruit & veg
Hi all,
We have a mature sweet cherry tree which was in our garden when we moved in. It has four (thumb thick) branches, approx six feet long, roughly growing NESW, with a little growth at the end of each branch. It fruits, but only in small amounts.
I would value your your advice on when and how I should prune it to reduce the length of the branches and improve the amount of fruit.
Thanks
Alex

We have inherited some mature cherry trees too but find the birds get to the fruit before it's ripe enough for us so good luck.
