My new pet

I was just too late to capture this slug when the Eschscholzia leaf was festooned like a little hat to its head. It was gobbled up quickly, as was a second leaf that I offered.

  • Ha yes @pansyface I noticed that too. Indeed the great recyclers ... I lose the occasional plants to slugs. By and large all is well, or perhaps my garden is slowly evolving to have slug-proof plants. I sprinkled some kale (kavolo nero) seeds this spring, and the slugs did have a habit of keeping on top of them without going for the ultimate mercy-kill. If I paid more attention I might be a bit more distraught at some of the other plants I lost. I wonder, does anything prey on this size of slug? Would a hedgehog go for it?
  • Thanks @philippa smith2 :) I wish it was a bit more in focus, as for the colour combination it is all thanks to this very fashionable slug. It is a cheerful sight, it definitely made any thoughts of ill-wishes disappear! Next time I meet Sly slug I'll definitely offer it another of those orange poppy petals.
