Identification

Hey there! I am new to growing veggies and got given this random pot which looks like it may be doing well... apart from I think a weed is growing alongside it. My problem is I don’t know which is the weed and what is the plant! Or what the plant is for that matter! Please help!

    If the stems are slightly hairy and leaves feel like velvet (difficult to tell from the photo), it could be an aubergine.  The other plant near it (with the small leaves and floppy stems) is indeed a weed.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
