Remove any completely yellow or completely brown leaves, together with any badly distorted ones but all the green leaves (even those with holes in) are still feeding the trees and will soon be automatically shed anyway.

Thanks Bob. I started to do that yesterday but there are a lot of badly distorted leaves so should I leave some of those on to fall off naturally otherwise my trees will probably be bare?
Just thought I would post a picture of our magnolia tree which, last year, looked as though it might not survive but after pruning it as bobthegardener suggested, it’s now starting to bud! Looking forward now to seeing it, hopefully, flower. Thanks for the advice!
Because of the stress last year, and being planted in the ground, it will be concentrating on growing roots this year and may not flower. However, the wait will be worth it!
