Isle of Wight Apricots and Cherries!

Cherries and Apricots are my favourite fresh fruits.
These have been grown here on the Island and are wonderful,if a wee bit pricey!
The season is short but welcomed by me!!!

I love apricots.  They can be expensive but supermarkets do sometimes have them in offer, few weeks back 45p for 6.

I do get the supermarket apricots which are generally Spanish and they are OK,but when I had a really fresh ripe apricot that was grown only a few miles from me there was just no comparison!
The IOW ones I bought today were 'seconds' and 4 for £1 but really delicious.

I can't remember the last time I saw real English apricots.  When I was growing up we had a street market - and the fruits of the season were sold by the pound (even strawberries).  I don't think plastic trays or boxes had been invented!  But with my mother, I made loads of jams and preserves quite cheaply.  You couldn't do it today with only four apricots for £1.  And whole trays of peaches sold off cheaply at the end of a busy Saturday were delicious, cheap and made a lovely peach preserve.
