Does anyone know what the tall white spiky plant is in George’s 5th photo, on the right, looks like a giant wild Persicaria .
    Veronicastrum?
Just blown it up and I think you're right : some sort of persicaria
    Devon.

I’ll have to do some research, I’ve got a few Veronicas here not quite like that.  Must have a google, need some more ‘height’ plants.

I'd thought veronicastrum, not veronica, but when I zoomed in, the foliage is more like persicaria.

  • Just in case it helps...a crop from the original photo...didn't take any close ups because I don't want to be that person to delay everyone else 🤣

That does look like a persicaria... how about P.amplexicaulis 'Alba'?  P.amplexicaulis (dark pink) gets to about 5ft in the wild bit behind my house.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Thanks for these lovely photos.  Another garden I've only seen in May on my way to or from Chelsea so it's great to see it in summer.

  • You're very welcome @Obelixx I somehow tend to visit in mid to late summer...have to go another time of year and enjoy other aspects.

@nutcutlet.   Is this the one you sent me?
I think I have it already in my garden, sent to me by Nut some years ago, it’s just that plants don’t often reach the heights they would in warmer areas. It is indeed a very useful plant.

@Lyn I don't remember sending you that but I do have a white persicaria so maybe.

Perhaps you sent the seeds to me. It was a long time ago, mine stands about 4’ tall now, it won’t get any taller, but as I said before, plants ground hug here.
