Fig tree Summer pruning?

Hi
My fig tree has produced a tremendous amount of green growth it’s very dark in the middle. I gave it a hard prune back in Feb 2018 including root pruning. Can I now do summer pruning of the green growth and new shoots. I want to thin it out so it can get some light and air through it’s middle.

Now is the right time to summer prune figs. I did mine last week. Cut this summer’s growth back to five leaves. 😊

  • Are you pruning it to produce fruit or just for the ornamental aspect ?
I believe the RHS website provides pruning advice - may be worth a look ?
Alternatively, I think there have been several threads/post on this forum - the search facility should bring them up and you can then see if the info/advise is applicable to your situation.
To reduce size of the fig tree but still get plenty of fruit.
