We had a poodle cross before they were fashionable. I took her for her annual shearing and arranged to pick her up later. (She would look like a fat spider afterwards)
Late evening, I put down her food. No dog. Searched the house and then OMG! What could I do? Sent OH down to get her. The owner was very nice about it. She was just about to take the dog home.

I've done the take the rubbish out when going out, only to realise two minutes later that I'm walking to work still carrying it. 🙄😁

I left my dog in work once. I left the office late and was half way home before I realised I'd forgotten him. The office was at my parents house though so decided to just leave him there rather than go back. My wife didn't speak to me all evening :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

My mum lost me when she was out shopping. She found me on a policeman's shoulders. That'll tell you how long ago it was!

  • My partner (who is not the greatest cook in the world) once made this really tasty fish pie. When I was clearing up I found the fish in the microwave where it'd been defrosting!

I finally got time, during a particularly busy shift at work, to grab a cup of tea.  Put a teabag in a mug, and held it under the liquid soap dispenser instead of the hot tap. I just stopped myself in time.

A friend of ours lived in a built-up area and had to park his car anywhere he could find a space on the street.  One day he went to where he'd left it, and found it gone.  Hunted all round the nearby streets in case he'd made a mistake, but couldn't find it.  Reported it stolen, got an insurance claim settled, and bought another car.  Then a neighbour said he'd seen it - where he'd left  it.  The insurers were very nice about it, left him with the new car and took the old one in settlement.  Nowadays he has a chalkboard by the front door and as soon as he gets in he writes the name of the street he's left his car in.

Forgot to pick up my son from school once as I was busy in the garden!
Ah well, you had a good excuse at least!

@madpenguin you are not alone.  My children still make a point of reminding me how I used to forget to pick them up from a youth drama group.  Oh and I also forgot to pick secondborn up from Merry Hill once and she hadn't got any way of calling me.  By the time I remembered she had walked half the way home about 3 miles.
