Perennials over too quickly

Is it just me , or is everything in the garden 'going over' at a faster rate than usual ?
My Francoa sonchifolia literally flowered for one week this year .....amazing !
I have two colossal pots of Ligularia przewalskii (pronounced 'sha-val-skee-ee') standing in two even more colossal trays of dilute feed & rainwater . All done and dusted within two-weeks .
Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon this Summer ?

    Somethings have gone over rather quick , my Ligularia little rocket went over fast but Przewalskii is still flowering away. Very good weather for the ligularia at the moment downpours regularly but others aren't so happy with the weather 

    My bulbs in spring went over in flash it was unusually warm and dry.

    I wonder if your current heat wave is causing this phenomenon.  I think that's what causes this to happen in Texas.  Typically our hottest month is late August into September. But this year we hit triple digit heat last week and I noticed last week my perennial Periwinkle (vinca major) yellowing off on the bottom (despite daily watering) like they usually do in September.  I also notice some of my Lysimachia Creeping Jenny dying off earlier than in years past.  But here, it's usually oppressive the heat that gets 'em.

    I think you're right Peggy, it's been mostly dry here, then a deluge, now dry again. It's also been very hot at 39 degrees. 

    I've just put Rudbekia and late helianthemum in for some late season colour. Coreopsis is still going OK as is Liatris, Perovskia and heuchera.

    It’s mainly affected my austin roses, most of them have given up very early. Lady of Shallot hasn’t flowered in over two months. My least favourite, Lady Emma Hamilton - because it’s a horrible colour in the heat - has kept on flowering! Julia Child is fine and full of new buds again.

    The Geums were over in a flash, Geranium Rozanne and Verbena Bonariensis suffered badly and stopped flowering, but are recovering slowly and putting out new blooms. With a bit of cooler weather and a good watering perhaps things will surprise you and re-bloom?
