Manky apples

We’ve had this apple tree for about 5 years now, and for the last 3-4 years the apples have been of very poor quality. They are eating apples, and we just don’t eat them as what remains look grim! I said last year that if the condition didn’t improve, we’d get rid of the tree.  Before I cut it down, any suggestions on fixing this?

"Scab" - see RHS advice, here:
Tricky thing to treat so replacement may be a better idea, then you can choose another variety you like - there's a list of resistant varietes on that site.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • That’s it, cheers Bob. I’ll clear it out, it’s a good spot for a few hydrangeas to replace it :)
