With one thing and another , I never got round to planting my onion sets. Is there any point in planting them now? Would they have time to mature down here in Devon?

You may as well try, you can always have them as 'spring' onions in stir-fries etc., if they don't grow very large.  Might do better in your polytunnel, if you can squeeze them in between the hostas? :)   They won't keep 'til spring.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Thanks @BobTheGardener.
I like the spring onion idea. I might stick them in and hope for the best. They'll end up in the compost bin otherwise.
